How we compare garage equipment

Every page on this site compares what makers and retailers publish: spec sheets, manuals, warranty terms, safety recalls and store listings. We don't test the products, and every page says so.
Where each fact comes from
- Each fact carries a small number that links to its source at the foot of the page.
- Each source gives the date we read it.
- When we re-read a source and something changed, the page says what changed and when.
What we don't do
- We don't test, rate or rank products from our own use.
- We don't print Amazon prices, because they change too often to stay right. Other prices carry the date we read them.
- We don't pass off generated pictures as the real thing. The garage scenes on our pages are illustrations, captioned as such, and don't show the products we compare.
- We don't start a new page each year. A comparison keeps one address and is updated in place.
How the site is paid for
Links to stores can be affiliate links. If you buy through one, the store may pay us a commission, and you pay the same price. Which store pays more doesn't change what a page says. Every page carries the same notice near the top.
